People were queuing around the Festival Inn 20 minutes before the doors opened which is a testament to what everyone expected from the show. The tributes to Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison were eagerly awaited.
Roy Orbison opened the show with a string of hits including Oh Pretty Woman, Only The Lonely, I Drove All Night and You Got It. The floor was full and those not dancing were having a great singalongto all of the well known songs. One person told me that she had seen the artist 5 or 6 times but this was the best yet and the sound and lights were amazing.
Elvis got the jivers on the floor with Hound Dog & All Shook Up and also performed great versions of Way Down, Return To Sender and the emotional My Boy. The band looked like they were enjoying themselves as much as the audience were.
Buddy Holly performed a greatest hits show including Peggy Sue, That'll Be The Day, Maybe Baby and a wonderful version of True Love Ways. It was just how imagined seeing one of the greatest songwriters ever performing his greatest hits in his heyday.
All three artists came back on stage to the delight of the audience to finish off a great night.
Someone summed up the night by saying to his friend "Where else can you get a night like this for £25?".
It was great to see people queuing up for tickets to see the next VIP Cabaret show 'Forever Jackson', a tribute to the late great Michael Jackson before they left the Festival Inn.
